Reflect, Evaluate and Grow: The Key to Career Success

For me, personal growth holds great significance. When I refer to “growth,” I am not emphasizing on promotions and compensation benefits; instead, I prioritize aspects such as learning, facing challenges, positive culture, and getting support. I regularly reflect on my experiences over the past six months and ask myself the following questions:

1. Do I receive adequate support from my leaders?
2. Is the team’s culture conducive to harmony?
3. Am I engaged in work that is both challenging and aligned with my long-term goals?
4. Am I continually acquiring new knowledge, either by problem-solving or learning from my subordinates?

If my self-assessment doesn’t yield satisfactory results based on these questions, I make the decision to embark on a new journey.

Summary: When you have the majority of these elements working in your favor, promotions and compensation tend to naturally follow suit. It’s essential to conduct this introspection every three to six months, positioning yourself in the right place, at the right time, equipped with the necessary skill set, and surrounded by the right people.
